PHILOSOPHY

My philosophy in working with clients is based on Jungian, and Humanistic psychological theories.  These philosophies acknowledge the basic aspects of humanness such as the conscious, the unconscious, value, creativity, freedom, will, love, and spirit. I work with clients as a consultant to help each one understand the complexities of the path that he or she is walking at the time and to find alternatives leading to healing. In addition, I use Cognitive Therapy.  It is an extremely effective treatment for mood disorders, such as depression and anxiety.  It is essentially a way to become aware of, and question, your thoughts and beliefs.

We experience stress from a variety of sources; these experiences can lead to emotional difficulties that interfere with our ability to function in daily living, and to sleep or eat properly.  Stress is a major direct contributor to our ratio of Health and Wellness.  Management of stress,  when combined with supportive relationships and social life, recreation/exercise, nutrition, and continued involvement, and learning in life, can help any individual reach his or her optimum potential.

As a therapist, I work with clients to empower them in their spirituality, in whatever form it takes.  Spirit is our connection to the Greater Whole, be that God, nature, soul, or all of these as seen in the infinite.  Even those who do not connect to a formally structured spiritual practice benefit from focusing on the larger picture. The simple act of gratitude is one means of remaining in a state of grace even through difficult times.
